Collectively, our team appreciates that the best methods for support are often as unique as the story of those who sit before us. Our approach is to meet you where you are, which comes from an understanding that the story of one’s experiences is sometimes simple and may, at other times, be complex. We don’t view our clients as broken, so our job as therapists will never be to fix you but rather to feel with you, which we believe can only evolve from the vulnerability of shared familiarity.
This is the essence of the foundation within our multi-specialty mental health practice. A practice that has and will always be engrained in evidence-based practices, confidentiality, and a comfortable environment to support our clients in improving upon the interaction between their experiences and current circumstance to discover and craft the next chapter in their life.
And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.
The belief that by design, our environment affects our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings is where our story begins. Yet, the idea of “crafting your next chapter” continues to guide our story and the desire to inspire others’ progress in shaping the narrative of their lives.
Your Story Counseling first opened in October of 2014, a modest practice at the time; it too had been shaped by the chapters before it in an individual’s life. As an adoptee and former professional in law enforcement, Clark Beckley, MSW, LCSW, was driven to discover a purpose to his unique and current circumstance as the Founder and active therapist of Your Story Counseling. Today, these past experiences, personal understanding, and compassion of service within a community ultimately live as the core of our story and Your Story Counseling.
Our team devotes itself to walking alongside individuals at any chapter in their lives with an authentic approach and understanding. For our circumstances once interrupted a part of our story. And although it may have brought with it pain, sadness, anger, or confusion, it presently offered us a shared experience and contribution of intentional hope.
The process to begin therapy can seem like a daunting task, especially if it is your first time. There is often a misconception that counseling is only for those dealing with mental health issues, but the truth is there is so much more to it. Regardless of what you are currently going through, our team works with you from the very beginning to ensure that you receive the support you need. From the intake process to your first visit and throughout your time with us, our counselors and therapists get to know each individual in a way that allows us to provide the best possible experience and understanding.
Whether it is a short-term circumstance or long-term process, we afford our clients the flexibility to work at a comfortable pace that balances to meet their needs and objective. We acknowledge the courage it takes to begin the healing process, and we look forward to joining you on this part of your journey.
Our Intake Team
Our intake team dedicates itself to helping new clients find the best therapist suited for their needs. Throughout this process, they help schedule your first session, verify benefits, and answer any questions you may have regarding therapy. As therapists themselves, these individuals ensure that we provide new clients from the start with a level of understanding to meet the unique factors that led them to seek therapy.
From the start, you are connected with one of our therapists on the client services team. We’ve intentionally structured our appointment process this way to ensure that potential new clients receive the same quality of understanding and attention we offer clients throughout the process of therapy. We understand that it takes courage to begin this journey, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible care every step of the way.
The cost of therapy often weighs heavy on an individual’s decision to seek or receive the help they need. However, we encourage anyone who is at this stage to reach out to our client services team. Upon verifying your benefits, they can give you an accurate rate of what your sessions will cost. At Your Story Counseling, we offer our clients the flexibility to pay out of pocket and reduced fees as low as $10 for those who qualify.

Because the services we provide are specifically designed to support your growth and understanding, the duration of utilizing our services overall is up to you. Sessions with our therapists typically last between 53-60 minutes and are scheduled weekly. Whether it is a short-term circumstance or events that require a long-term process, our therapists work in a capacity that best supports the individual’s needs.
Due to the global pandemic circumstances, we’ve expanded our services to adhere to the restrictions set in place for our state and community. Our telehealth services are utilized primarily to resolve these circumstances. We recommend individuals not at risk or under unique circumstances begin/continue their sessions in person. We believe in the effectiveness therapy can have when we can connect face to face.
It is important to note that the safety of clients and staff is our top priority. Our office is equipped with the necessary tools and guideline procedures to ensure the protection of those entering.
To best meet the needs of our clients are therapists are available to meet with clients between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. And 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Our office is closed on Sunday but you can still schedule appointments online or by calling 630-442-1895.
We cannot provide accommodations for those needing assistance getting to our office on the second floor in suite 207. However, for those who are interested, we offer a similar service via telehealth.
The keeping of regular appointments is the most effective means of making progress in therapy. Clients scheduled time for treatment is reserved exclusively for that individual. In light of this, if for some reason there is a need to cancel an appointment, we ask that the individual calls or e-mails their therapist no less than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time. Clients will be charged the applicable full fee without notifying their therapist of missed appointments or late cancellations unless due to an emergency as determined by my therapist.
Your Story Counseling is a multi-specialty practice which means within our practice are therapists who can provide services to anyone ages three and up. To learn more about our therapists’ specialties and experience, please visit our team page.
Deciding to begin therapy is a very personal decision. Certain circumstances, mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety, or those struggling from a traumatic experience can find this process to be extremely beneficial. However, it’s important to note that therapy by design works to help any and all individuals who simply wish to improve their lives and mental well-being. Ultimately the choice is yours to make based on what is best for you at this point in your life, but sometimes individuals find that the consideration to begin is often reason enough.
Finding a therapist you feel can feel comfortable opening up with about personal topics is an essential part of this process. We understand for those who are considering therapy for the first time that this is incredibly daunting. It’s why at Your Story Counseling, every appointment request from new clients goes through our intake team, also known as a few of our very own therapists. Their experience in their roles allows them in the initial conversation with you to help determine the best therapist suited to your needs and comfortability.
*Regardless of where you decide to begin therapy, the most important thing to remember is that the therapists are here for you at the end of the day. As you embark on this journey, consider the qualities you’d need in another individual to feel the most comfortable and the type of support you are seeking. Building a supportive relationship with your therapist, whether through trust, personality, or general rapport, opens the door to authentic healing.
