Connecting Parents and Empowering Families

The pressures of parenthood in today’s world can be overwhelming but you are not alone. Parent Connections is a FREE, drop-in when you need a support group that meets for an hour every week and is available to attend all year round. This group meets in person to provide individuals a safe place to begin building connections with other parents looking to deepen their relationship with themselves, their families, and their children.

Why Join Our Parent Support Group?

  • Group is led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in parenting and group work.
  • Provides guidance and education in setting boundaries that will support your self-care and assist in meeting the multiple needs of your family.
  • Connects you with other parents that can provide support and share parenting resources and practical ideas.
  • Provides tools for understanding and navigating anxiety and stress.
  • Builds family resilience and effective communication.

This group is open to parents of all ages and individuals are welcome to join at any time throughout the year. Our group facilitator, Sheila Adamo LCSW, CADC has extensive experience providing support to families and guidance to support everyone in the family to address complicated issues that arise in our family dynamics. 33% in Parenting
The goal of 33% in Parenting: Are you tired of constantly feeling as though you are “failing” as a parent? Social media is FULL of “tips and tricks” that can contribute to an even greater sense of not being a good parent. Dr’s. Daniel Seigel and Tina Payne Bryson have reviewed multiple studies on effective parenting, and they found that if we want to raise our children to develop certain characteristics, we just need to be modeling the characteristics 33% of the time! I have full confidence that most of us are ALREADY meeting this percentage, without even realizing it. During this session, I hope that participants can grow in confidence that you are already a GREAT parent and more clearly identify some of the beliefs or worries that keep you from believing this.

Discovering Creative Family Routines
Are you looking for a routine for your child that goes beyond reward/consequence tallies? Do you want to engage your child with choices that link responsibility with opportunity cost and incentive? Come learn about this fun interactive way to engage with each other as a family in learning to work towards a well-rounded life.
December 5th

Mind the Gap – Bridging the gap from home to school
Moving between the two worlds of school and home with your child while meeting your child’s individual unique needs and keeping your mental health can be very challenging.  Join us as Karina will share her knowledge and resources of working in the school system as a social worker while facilitating a rich conversation that will allow parents to get support and suggestions to address struggles navigating the system.
