Your Story Counseling

Our Practice.

At Your Story Counseling, our team appreciates that the best methods for support are often as unique as the story of those who sit before us. Our approach is to meet you where you are, which comes from an understanding that the story of one’s experiences is sometimes simple and may, at other times, be complex. We don’t view our clients as broken, so our job as therapists will never be to fix you but rather to feel with you, which we believe can only evolve from the vulnerability of shared familiarity.

This is the essence of the foundation within Your Story Counseling’s multi-specialty mental health practice. A practice that has and will always be engrained in evidence-based practices, confidentiality, and a comfortable environment to support our clients in improving upon the interaction between their experiences and current circumstance to discover and craft the next chapter in their life.

And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.

Our Story.

The belief that by design, our environment affects our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings is where our story begins. Yet, the idea of “crafting your next chapter” continues to guide our story and the desire to inspire others’ progress in shaping the narrative of their lives.

Your Story Counseling first opened in October of 2014, a modest practice at the time; it too had been shaped by the chapters before it in an individual’s life. As an adoptee and former professional in law enforcement, Clark Beckley, MSW, LCSW, was driven to discover a purpose to his unique and current circumstance as the Founder and active therapist of Your Story Counseling. Today, these past experiences, personal understanding, and compassion of service within a community ultimately live as the core of our story and Your Story Counseling.

Our team devotes itself to walking alongside individuals at any chapter in their lives with an authentic approach and understanding. For our circumstances once interrupted a part of our story. And although it may have brought with it pain, sadness, anger, or confusion, it presently offered us a shared experience and contribution of intentional hope.

Deciding to begin therapy is a very personal decision. Certain circumstances, mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety, or those struggling from a traumatic experience can find this process to be extremely beneficial. However, it’s important to note that therapy by design works to help any and all individuals who simply wish to improve their lives and mental well-being. Ultimately the choice is yours to make based on what is best for you at this point in your life, but sometimes individuals find that the consideration to begin is often reason enough.

Finding a therapist you feel can feel comfortable opening up with about personal topics is an essential part of this process. We understand for those who are considering therapy for the first time that this is incredibly daunting. It’s why at Your Story Counseling, every appointment request from new clients goes through our intake team, also known as a few of our very own therapists. Their experience in their roles allows them in the initial conversation with you to help determine the best therapist suited to your needs and comfortability.

*Regardless of where you decide to begin therapy, the most important thing to remember is that the therapists are here for you at the end of the day. As you embark on this journey, consider the qualities you’d need in another individual to feel the most comfortable and the type of support you are seeking. Building a supportive relationship with your therapist, whether through trust, personality, or general rapport, opens the door to authentic healing.
