Brief info

As a therapist at Your Story Counseling and Angie's Place, I look forward to working with clients dealing with various issues, including Cumulative and post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders, grief and loss, life transition issues, retirement issues, stress and anger management, life stage changes, and sleep issues.

My experience as a Licensed National Board Certified Counselor, including my degree and professional experience in law enforcement and justice administration, has afforded me extensive training and experience in helping survivors of traumatic events heal. I understand the struggles surrounding critical incident stress, which may include acute or post-traumatic stress, which can lead to cumulative stress or "burnout." I also have a deep passion for counseling and supporting first responders and their families, spouses/significant others.

My approach to therapy includes utilizing various therapy techniques such as solution-focused brief therapy and trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, each uniquely fitting for the client's individual needs. I focus on building a safe environment to help form trusting, positive, and collaborative relationships with my clients. As a member of the Northern Illinois Critical Incident Stress Management Team for 17 years and counting, I plan to continue helping hundreds of first responders and their families deal with critical incidents.
